Redcat Racing RS10XT crawler rtr 1/10 – 603Hobby:
First Impressions!
Recently I picked up a Redcat Racing RS10XT and I have to admit I was not sure what to expect. This is not a scale crawler, it is set up to be a comp crawler right out of the box. In this post I will go over my first impressions as well as some of the major features that I noticed right off the bat. Going forward I will be doing some further reviews to talk about durability, fun factor and upgrades.
The first thing that you will notice when you pull the RS10XT out of the box is that it is relatively heavy, which gives it a feeling of "quality".
Second thing that you will notice is the somewhat odd shaped, kind of like a Hummer H2 body that this thing comes with. In my opinion it is fine, but I also do not plan on using the stock body. (I picked up a Jeep Wrangler body to match my real life vehicle, more on that later)
Next up is probably one of the neatest features of the RS10XT; 4 wheel steering!!! This is 4 mode, 4 wheel steering and the modes are:
-Front wheels turn only
-Front and rear Wheels "crab" (Turn in opposite directions)
-Front and rear wheels turn in the same direction
-Rear wheel steer
A really nice feature of this set up is that you change steering modes on the fly right on the included transmitter and there is even a digital display to show you what mode you are in!
I have never had a RC vehicle with 4 wheel steering, but I think it is going to be pretty awesome! Just messing around in my basement crawling over stuff I could tell that the rear wheel and front and rear same direction steer will definitely come in handy!
Here is a link to a quick Youtube video I made of my first time driving the Redcat Racing RS10XT:
